　　There is nothing like watching fireflies light up the sky on a warm evening. The sight of hundreds of fireflies twinkling in the night can create a magical memory. While the firefly’s ability to produce light may be fascinating, it isn’t actually magic. People have wondered for a long time how fireflies can light up their bodies. Unlike most types of illumination, the light of a firefly isn’t hot. It is known as “cold light.” Scientists have studied these beautiful insects closely and now have a clear understanding of how they produce light.

　　沒有什麼比得上在溫暖的夜晚觀看螢火蟲照亮天空。數百隻螢火蟲在夜空中閃爍的景象可以留下如夢似幻的回憶。雖然螢火蟲發光的能力或許令人著迷，但它並不是魔法。長期以來，人們一直想知道螢火蟲是如何照亮牠們的身體。不同於大多數類型的光，螢火蟲的光並不熱。它被稱作「冷光」。科學家仔細研究了這些美麗的昆蟲，現在對牠們如何發光有了清楚的了解。
