　　Since the 1970s, the World’s Ugliest Dog Contest has been held in Petaluma, California. The contestants aren’t judged on how good they look but on how ugly they are. However, the event isn’t designed to make fun of people’s pets. It is meant to help people find beauty in these animals, even if they look strange. The contest also promotes adopting pets from animal shelters rather than buying them from pet stores.
