A silhouette is an image of a person, an animal, an object, or a scene that is represented as a solid shape of a single color, typically black. It lacks features and is usually presented on a light background, often white or with nothing behind it at all. Silhouettes can be drawn, painted, or cut out using black paper. However, the term used to describe pieces of cut paper that were attached to a contrasting background and often framed.
