The torch relay remains an important part of the Olympics opening ceremony. The Paris 2024 Torch Relay, known as the Forerunners Relay, showcases a spectacular journey that aims to show off France’s beauty and diversity. The flame was lit in Olympia, Greece, on April 16, 2024. From there, it was delivered to Athens, Greece, and then sent across the sea to Marseille, France. Upon arrival on May 8, the torch began to pass through the hands of 10,000 torch bearers on a 68-day journey around France.
