Like many characters in his novels, Roald Dahl lived an exciting life. He was born to Norwegian parents in Wales and spent most of his life in England. Since childhood, Dahl had a love of language. He showed a high level of creativity by inventing over 500 new words and character names. His unique use of language even led Oxford University Press to create the Oxford Roald Dahl Dictionary, which contains almost 8,000 real and made-up words that he loved to use.
