As a child, you loved it. You may still love it, but you now know it' s almost entirely sugar. Cotton candy is a sugary snack that is made to look like cotton. In some places, it is called candy floss or fairy floss. Historians debate when the treat was invented. Some suggest that it was first made in 15th - century Italy. Others say it didn' t appear until the 19th century. What we do know is that the cotton candy machine came along in 1897.
