Tutankhamun, often known as King Tut, was an ancient Egyptian pharaoh who ruled from 1332 to 1323 BC. The young ruler captured the world’s attention after his tomb was discovered in 1922. Tutankhamun became pharaoh when he was only nine years old. Although he was young, Tutankhamun and his advisors made some important decisions. They moved Egypt’s capital back to Thebes and returned to worshiping the god Amun. In keeping with royal traditions, King Tut married his half-sister.
