We have all visited the uncanny valley. If you have ever been frightened by a mannequin in a dark room or watched a horror movie about a talking doll that kills, then you have been there. While it makes sense to be afraid of murderous dolls, the uncanny valley response proved terrible for box office bombs such as Final Fantasy and Cats. The characters in both movies appeared either too human or not quite human enough in their appearance.
