If you buy a pet from a pet store, it’s likely that puppy and kitten mills will benefit. These are places that produce baby animals just like products. The parents are usually kept in small cages and made to produce as many babies as possible. What’s more, pets from pet stores are usually much more expensive than adopted ones. The former may cost tens of thousands of Taiwanese dollars depending on the breed, while the latter can cost just a few hundred. Do the right thing and adopt your next pet.
