壹蘋派生活美語　生日為什麼要吃蛋糕？

　　The ancient Egyptians were the first to celebrate birthdays, but it was linked to the day when their kings took the throne. People believed that when this happened, kings were reborn as gods. To celebrate, they held huge events. The Greeks loved this idea and added a sweet twist to these celebrations––cake. To honor Artemis, the goddess of the Moon, they baked round cakes to represent the Moon and topped them with candles.

　　古埃及人是最早開始慶生的人，但這與他們國王的即位之日有關。人們相信，當這件事發生時，國王會重生為神。為了慶祝，他們會舉辦大型活動。希臘人喜歡這個想法，並為這些慶祝活動增添了甜美的變化 ── 蛋糕。為了向月亮女神阿提密斯致敬，他們烘烤了代表月亮的圓形蛋糕，並在上面插上蠟燭。
