Wisdom teeth, also known as third molars, are the biggest teeth at the back of our mouth. First molars grow around age six, with second molars popping up around ages 10 to 12. Third molars generally appear between ages 17 and 25. They are called wisdom teeth because they tend to develop during a time when a person is considered to be wiser and more mature. According to scientists, when humans first came into existence 2.5 million years ago, they had a full set of 32 teeth, including four wisdom teeth.
智齒，又稱第三大臼齒，是位於我們口腔後方最大的牙齒。第一大臼齒約在六歲時長出，第二大臼齒則在十歲至十二歲之間出現。第三大臼齒一般在十七至二十五歲之間出現。它們之所以被稱作智齒是因為它們通常在人們被認為更加明智、更加成熟的時期出現。根據科學家的說法，人類在大約兩百五十萬年前出現的時候，就擁有完整的三十二顆牙齒，其中包含四顆智齒。
