The Regata Storica is a famous Italian boat race that is held every September in Venice, Italy. During the event, locals and tourists gather along the canals in the city to cheer for their favorite teams. In English, the event’s name means “historical boat race.” This is fitting as this tradition dates back more than 500 years. There is no better place for the boat races than Venice since it has long been a maritime city where many skilled boatmen have lived. In the early years, the races were set up as challenges to decide who the best boatmen and gondoliers were.
