The novel Frindle was written by American author Andrew Clements. Clements was born in New Jersey in 1949. His parents loved reading, so he developed an interest in this hobby as a child. During summers, Clements and his family lived in a cabin near a lake. He spent his time there playing in nature during the daytime and reading in the evening. Clements believed this helped him think like a writer. At school, Clements’ English teacher praised a poem he wrote. This encouraged him to study literature in college.
