The sandbox tree may not be a good choice for a personal garden or public park, but the tree does have other uses. Besides being an interesting yet dangerous tree for experts to study, the sandbox tree has provided some positive benefits for modern medicine. The leaves have been traditionally used to treat skin problems. Extracts of the poisonous sap are useful for treating joint and muscle pain. The sap is also used to kill worms and other parasites that exist inside the bodies of humans or animals.
